Akkad assumed his current position at Meta in 2022, having joined the company in 2017. In February 2025, Meta officially launched Meta AI in MENA with full availability in the U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Iraq, with Arabic support. It also launched Ray-Ban Meta eyewear in the U.A.E. and WhatsApp monetization in the region. Akkad sits on the boards of Binghatti, CAFU, and Aliph Capital. Akkad was previously the director for media partnerships at Meta.
