Al Attiya became the Chairman of Qatari Diar in 2024. The Qatar Investment Authority established Qatari Diar in 2005 to oversee Qatar’s growing real estate sector. In November 2025, Qatari Diar signed a partnership agreement with Egypt’s New Urban Communities Authority to develop the Alam Al-Roum area on the Egyptian Mediterranean coast, pledging $29.7 billion in investments. Al Attiya is Qatar’s Minister of Municipality and Chairman of Barwa Real Estate Company.
