Al Mesmar servers as the U.A.E. Government’s CIO and became director-general of the TDRA in 2021, having served as deputy director-general of the telecommunications sector since joining TDRA in 2010. In November 2025, the TDRA launched the 6G initiative in the U.A.E. and established the 6G Committee. 5G now covers 99.5% of populated areas, with more than 10 million subscribers. Al Mesmar chairs the board of trustees of TDRA’s ICT Fund.
