Al-Mawlawi assumed his current role in 2023. Aspetar is among the first specialized orthopedic and sports medicine hospitals in the Gulf. Aspetar has also been providing medical aid for Arab national teams competing at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Aspetar is building a second broad-scope orthopedic hospital, and in 2026, it launched its Extreme Sports Center. Al-Mawlawi was previously chief tournament experience officer and deputy director-general for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
