After serving as CEO of Olayan Financing Company for over 33 years, Lubna Olayan announced her retirement in 2019. She still serves as a member of the Board of Directors, Shareholders’ Board and Olayan Family Council. She became chairperson of Saudi British Bank (SABB) in June 2019 and also serves as the chairwoman of Alawwal Bank, which is set to merge with SABB. SABB made $1.8 billion in total operating income in the first nine months of 2020. Olayan was the first woman to join the board of a publicly listed company in Saudi Arabia.Olayan is a member of one of the wealthiest families in the Middle East, and the Olayan Group ranked third in Forbes Middle East’s top 100 family businesses in the Middle East 2020. She ranked #7 on Forbes’ list of the Most Powerful Women In Finance 2017.
