In 2024, Qalaa Holdings advanced its decarbonization strategy across Egypt and Africa through green investments in energy, waste, and industrial solutions. Its subsidiary, ECARU, launched two Mechanical Biological Treatment plants producing compost and alternative fuels to cut methane emissions. Another subsidiary, Dina Farms, gets 25% of its total energy consumption from a 6 MW solar plant—developed by TAQA Arabia with EBRD financing in decarbonization plans across its portfolio. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions before 2050. Hammouda is also a member of Qalaa Holdings’ Board Sustainability Committee.
