Al Zamel became chairman of Kuwait’s CITRA in 2025. The authority is responsible for overseeing the state’s telecommunication and IT sectors, focusing on regulatory frameworks. In June 2025, it launched 5G services in Kuwait, as a precursor to future 6G deployment. Al Zamel held academic posts at Kuwait University’s College of Engineering and Petroleum, where he supervised research in Arabic-language processing and AI and served in advisory and technical roles at Kuwaiti ministries, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Social Affairs, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
