Founded in 1964 by the late Mahmoud El-Araby, the ELARABY Group began operations as a small stationery shop in Cairo. Today, it is a diversified conglomerate representing 17 international brands, including TOSHIBA, SONY, and Hitachi, and operates in more than 19 sectors, including trading, medical, and services. It has a presence in Tunisia, Sudan, South Africa, Kenya, China, and Thailand. In 2024, the group entered into a $40 million partnership with Taiwanese company RECHI to locally manufacture air conditioning compressors in Egypt at a facility covering 25,000 square meters.
