These companies, often steered by generations of the same family, have traditionally dominated sectors such as hospitality, retail, and manufacturing, reflecting the enduring influence of heritage and familial bonds.
Many of these family businesses have deep historical roots, with several established in the 1800s and before 1950, reflecting their resilience and adaptability over generations. The list also features newer entities, often formed through mergers or spin-offs, such as Morocco’s O Capital Group and Saudi Arabia’s Sultan Holding Company, demonstrating the evolving nature of family enterprise in the Arab world.
Our list of the Top Arab Family Businesses in 2025 highlights not only financial strength but also a commitment to innovation and sustainability. For example, companies like Alghanim Industries and AW Rostamani Group introduced EV vehicles to Kuwait and the U.A.E., signaling a shift toward cleaner energy.
This year’s list showcases the dominance of GCC countries, with 33 companies from Saudi Arabia, 32 from the U.A.E., and eight from Qatar. Saudi Arabia’s Al Muhaidib Group leads the ranking, followed by Abdul Latif Jameel. Notably, the Mansour Group stands out as the only non-GCC-based business in the top 10.

Businesses owned or run by Arab families were considered for the list. We collected information from stock exchanges, reports from consulting firms, and other primary sources. We ranked the family businesses based on the following:
● The size and value of the businesses they hold, including listed entities, real estate and hospitality assets, and revenues from other holdings.
● Business activity in the last year, including IPOs, new project launches, and new investments.
● How diversified the business is in terms of sectors and geographies.
● The performance of their key businesses and the sectors in which they operate.
● Age and legacy of the company.
● Number of total employees.
