Al Suwaidi assumed his current role in 2024. HMC is Qatar's principal public healthcare provider, delivering a network of 15 hospitals and specialist centers, including the National Center for Cancer Care and Research, Heart Hospital, and Rumailah Hospital. In 2026, HMC became one of the first centers outside the US accredited as a Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Centre of Excellence, partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim to expand clinical research capabilities, and performed Qatar’s first minimally invasive total hip replacement. In 2025, HMC recorded 159,109 inpatient admissions, up 4% from 2024, and almost 3.1 million outpatient visits, up 8%.
