Egypt’s stock market staged a sharp rebound in 2025, with total market capitalisation rising more than 40% to $67.3 billion as of January 2026.

The country’s 50 most valuable listed companies drove most of that momentum. Together, they accounted for $55.8 billion in market value – around 83% of the entire market. Over the past 12 months, the combined market capitalisation of the top 50 climbed by more than 48%, signalling renewed investor appetite for Egyptian equities.

Industrials led the rally, driven largely by cement and fertiliser producers. Ferchem Misr for Fertilizers & Chemicals posted the strongest gains, with its market value surging after a 746% rise in its share price and a 2,180% increase in paid capital, following its merger with two companies and its move from the SME board to the EGX main market. Misr Cement Group, Sinai Cement, and Misr Beni Suef Cement Company followed, with market value increases of 554%, 264%, and 222%, respectively.

Nearly half of the companies on the list saw their market value rise by more than 50% over the year. Only 10 recorded declines, led by Egyptian Iron & Steel Company, which fell 35% as it remains under liquidation.

Commercial International Bank (CIB) retained its position as Egypt’s most valuable listed company, with a market capitalisation of $9.6 billion, followed by Talaat Moustafa Group Holding and Elsewedy Electric. Banking and financial services was the most represented sector, with 14 companies and a combined market value of $21.2 billion, ahead of industrials, which placed 11 companies with a combined $12.4 billion in market capitalisation.
