The Middle East’s Healthcare Founders and Shareholders are focused on scaling their businesses through acquisitions, manufacturing expansion, regional growth, and entry into new markets, while strengthening local healthcare capacity.
PureHealth continued to expand its integrated healthcare platform, comprising over 110 hospitals, 316 clinics, 145 diagnostic labs, health insurance, 100 pharmacies, health technology and strategic investments across the UAE, US, UK, Greece, and Cyprus. Meanwhile, Aster DM Healthcare advanced $272.3 million in new healthcare projects in the UAE, with a $250 million investment program underway in Saudi Arabia. Fakeeh Care Group expanded through a $426.7 million hospital acquisition in East Riyadh, while Egypt’s EVA Group is also building a $120 million research and manufacturing complex in Saudi Arabia.
The 2026 Forbes Middle East Top Healthcare Founders and Shareholders highlights 50 entries, whose ownership, investment, and long-term leadership continue to shape the region’s ecosystem. The UAE is home to 18 of the 50 entries, followed by Saudi Arabia with 13 and Egypt with 10.
Topping this year’s Founders ranking is Shaista Asif, cofounder and group CEO of PureHealth, followed by the Saudi billionaire Sulaiman Al Habib, group founder and chairman of Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Services Group (HMG), and the Indian billionaire Azad Moopen, founder chairman and managing director of Aster DM Healthcare.
